September 14, 2012:

This is what we did today;

We got the cardboard and placed it flat on the inside of the area of the garden. We also removed the bricks that were on the sides. Also we discovered some weird and strange insects under the bricks that were living there during the summer.

Newest Update

We are going to put our plants in as soon as we get all of the supplies from our teacher. The mulch hasn't come in yet and we are still designing the layout of the vegetable garden. We haven't been able to do this in the last few weeks because of testing and preparations, but we are back on top of working on the Girls' Gardening Expo. We will make prototype sketches of the layout in multiple dimensions and views. The gardeners are still working on the solarpowered barrel pump with the builders.

Gardeners/Builders: Water barrels are being put in each garden and putting the solar pannel in between the two houses.

Researchers: Taking measurements of houses and spaces.

Pictures: Recording and Documenting.

The water barrel pump is being put in today, and hopefully we will get the plants soon.

Update

So the week before last, we all set out on completing our goals in class. Each group split to accomplish their given task in time because we only had 2 classes that week before break.

The Gardeners were busy with the leveling, as were the builders, and they worked on the shopping list. Builders  weeded the garden and photos and video were taken (which you should be able to see at our Tumblr). The researchers got to work finding out the different types of plants we can use.

The team has decided to do Cherry Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Crisphead Lettuce, and Green Hot Peppers.

The Beginning...

We have recently started our project yesterday by assigning the different jobs everyone gets. There are the Builders, the Gardeners, the Photographers/Recorders, and the Researchers. Some people will work on several things at once, and they will work in multiple groups.

So far we were thinking about what vegetables we will plant and ere thinking about Cherry Tomatoes and Peppers.

The Researchers are working on how we can take care of them before we all make a voting decision.

The Photographers/Recorders are already starting to take pictures and video, so don't forget to check back in for more news!
